MOUNT RAINIER NATIONAL PARK | WASHINGTON, USA SPRING 2021 | Profs. Mauricio Pezo & Sofia von Ellrichshausen In collaboration with Ribhya Arora This greenhouse, with apartments, homeopathic gardens and a storage operation sits on the rocky bank of the Carbon River. The monumental arched masses, extrapolated from elements of Palladian villas, imply a cyclical continuity with the earth. The small arches serve as apartments for a caretaker and visitors and the larger volume contains a cafeteria and nursery, plant storage, and a processing facility on respective stories. The premise is experimental: considering the arch as a habitable volume, both inside and underneath, as opposed to its traditional ornamental or structural identity.
